About Me

Hey there! I’m Cynthia, a 20-something Registered Dietitian living in Newport, RI. I graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2015 with a double major in Nutrition/Dietetics and Spanish. In April 2016, I completed my dietetic internship with Wellness Workdays and passed the RD credentialing exam in May. I originally transferred to UMass after my freshman year at another school, where I was Undeclared, to pursue a degree and career and nutrition. It’s safe to say that my dreams have come true, and it just keeps getting better.

I was born and raised on Cape Cod and my family is from Minas Gerais, Brazil. I grew up eating rice and beans and speaking Portuguese, thus inspiring myself to become trilingual and learn Spanish, and study abroad in Madrid during my junior year of college. Being Brazilian and growing up with my mom’s home cooking is a huge part of why I am passionate about what I do. You can read more about this in the "Why Nutrtition?" page!

Currently, I am working as both an inpatient and outpatient Clinical Dietitian in Providence. In my spare time, I can’t seem to get away from my love of nutrition. (Not that I want to, of course). I love to discuss it, read about it, cook and share recipes, watch food documentaries, and feel inspired by food.

Most of my meals and recipes are inspired by food I already know how to make, Brazilian styles of cooking, other food bloggers and dietitians, cooking magazines and Pinterest of course!

You’ll also find me reading, drinking tons of coffee and tea, exercising (currently into Kayla Itsines’s BBG and running), hiking and camping with my boyfriend, writing, and waiting for the return of GoT.

I am a whole foods-first dietitian. With that being said, I don't believe in diets, fads, or restriction as a means for living healthfully. You won't feel any pressure to follow those trends here. My goal instead is to help you feel more positive around food. I hope to inspire YOU to live a healthier life, feel more confident in your kitchen, and be more mindful with food and your body..all while enjoying the foods you love, and maybe trying some new ones along the way!
